Lady Warriors Drop NLC Opener To NorthridgeSYRACUSE – Wawasee coach Matt Carpenter knew Northridge would be a tough Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball opener for his team.
He was right.
The Lady Raiders ran out to a 16-6 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 44-25 win over the Lady Warriors Tuesday night at the Hardwood Tepee.
Northridge had a scoring advantage in all four quarters, but the biggest after the first was four points in the third period when the Lady Raiders outscored Wawasee 9-5.
Senior Aubrey Kuhn hit three-pointers in the second and third periods, and led Wawasee with eight points. Kabrea Rostochak and Hannah-Marie Lamle had four points each for the Lady Warriors.
Junior Morgan Litwiler led all scorers with 18 points for Northridge, and senior Brooke McKinley added 12.
The Lady Raiders won the junior varsity contest handily, 50-20 over the Lady Warriors. Madison Mottern had eight points in the game for Wawasee.
The Lady Warriors (5-4 overall, 0-1 in the conference) play their first NLC road game Friday night, traveling to Goshen.
With its fourth straight win, Northridge improved to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in the NLC.
