MISHAWAKA – Grace College’s softball team enjoyed an outburst of offense in a doubleheader Monday against Crossroads League rival Bethel. The Lady Lancers poured in 25 runs on 29 hits, blasting four home runs in the process. Grace won the opening game 13-5 in a run-rule, but Bethel got revenge by winning the second game 13-12.
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley’s varsity softball team scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday, sending 11 batters to the plate in the frame, but lost 13-8 to the visiting NorthWood Lady Panthers.
Special Olympics athletes from Kosciusko County participated in the sectional basketball tournament held on March 16 in Logansport.
MARION – Grace College’s track and field team officially opened up the outdoor season Saturday with the IWU Polar Bear Invitational. The Lancers had two field athletes hit the NAIA qualifying standard in the meet, both on the men’s side.
LEO-CEDARVILLE – Manchester High School’s varsity softball team opened the season Saturday, losing 16-0 and 17-0 in a doubleheader at Leo. Both games were completed in five innings because of the mercy rule.
SYRACUSE – Wawasee High School’s boys and girls track and field teams opened their outdoor season Thursday by splitting with Westview.
Warsaw Lady Tiger senior golf standout Julia Hildebrand will continue her academic and athletic careers at Grace College. Hildebrand earned three varsity letters in golf and earned Most Improved Player, and the Striving Toward Excellence Awards for coach Tad Nieter. During her high school career she also participated in cross country and track and field for the Tigers.
BOURBON – The Triton Junior/Senior High School Athletic Department will host its annual physical night April 10 from 6-8 p.m.

MARION – The Grace College softball team was unable to maintain its early lead against No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan University Wednesday.
SOUTH WHITLEY – Led by Zack Freel, Whitko High School’s boys track and field team beat Southwood 68-55 Tuesday evening. Freel won three individual events, taking first in the 100 (11.9 seconds), 400 (:55.1) and high jump (5-6), and was also on the winning 4x400 team with Ashton Schuh, Isaiah Pierce and Clayton Ebbinghouse (3:49.3).
INDIANAPOLIS – The Grace College softball team was not able to keep up with No. 5 Marian University Tuesday, losing 9-0 and 2-0 on the road.
Seventy-seven Indiana high school seniors – 39 boys and 37 girls – have been chosen as first-team Academic All-State by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

Tippecanoe Valley High School senior Haley Hoover will continue her academic and running careers at Manchester University, where she will compete for head coach Brian Cashdollar. Hoover is a four-year participant for the Lady Vikings in both cross country and track and field.

WINONA LAKE – The Grace College women’s basketball team scored the first six points of its game on Wednesday night and never relented. The Lady Lancers (17-15) opened up the NCCAA National Championships in style with an 88-52 waltz over Bluefield College at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
