Ina V. Neal, 76, Warsaw, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

Sara Jane Rife Smith passed away Feb. 5, 2018, following a brief but fittingly tenacious battle with cancer; she was 83. Born and raised in Kokomo, she was the only child of Alice Katherine Mays Rife and Howard Jennings Rife, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, Edward “Ted” Smith; daughter-in-law, Kate Macdonald Smith; and grandsons Thomas and Griffin Smith, all of San Francisco, Calif. She also leaves behind an entire generation of now-middle-age men and women who knew her simply and lovingly as “Fred,” a badge of honor she wore proudly.

Dottie Marie Nixon, 70, South Whitley, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at her residence. She was born July 19, 1947, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Robert and Laura Miller. On May 29, 1976, in Rochester, she married Michael J. Nixon; he survives. Dottie was a graduate of Ben Davis High School, Indianapolis, and had a bachelor’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. She had worked as an accountant for many years at Fox Products, South Whitley.

Norman L. Snyder, 79, Warsaw, passed away at 7:33 p.m. Feb. 5, 2018, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was born June 28, 1938, in Mexico, to Raymond and Margaret Burkett Snyder. On June 26, 1976, in St. Petersburg, Fla., he was united in marriage to Dorothy Miller, who survives.

Larry D. Stabler, 76, Warsaw, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1942, to Glen and Mildred Fought Stabler in Syracuse. He was a lifelong Kosciusko County resident. On Nov. 20, 1996, he was united in marriage to Sheryl Neff in Warsaw.

Melvin L. “Mel” Weaver, 91, Syracuse, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at his home. He was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Warsaw, to Russell and Mary Jane Polk Weaver. He lived most of his life in the Syracuse area, attended Syracuse Public Schools and took welding classes in Columbia City. He was married on April 18, 1954, in Syracuse, to Ethel M. Denton, who survives.

Katherine E. Longenecker, 96, Bristol, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Goshen Hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Cromwell, to Eldon and Rosa K. Knepper Stoner. She graduated in 1941 from Cromwell High School and on Sept. 29, 1945, in Wakarusa, she married Walter Calvin Longenecker, who preceded her in 2001.

Dean E. Thompson, Kansas City, Mo., died Feb. 3, 2018.   Dean was born in Claypool to Ralph and Jessie Thompson.   He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Gene.

Christopher A. Trigg,  45, Rochester, died at 8:27 p.m. Feb. 4, 2018, in Woodlawn Hospital.

James C. Munson, 74, rural Warsaw, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, in his home.

Frank Robert Sivicek, 91, Leesburg, died at 8:23 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen.

Bruce D. McClintic, 92, Milford, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Milford. He was born Jan. 5, 1926, to Eston and Blanche McClintic in Syracuse. He married Eva J. Wineland on April 26, 1947; she passed on Jan. 1, 2015. Bruce was a beloved member of the Milford community for many years. For 20 years, he worked as a crane operator at Sturm & Dillard Gravel Co. He also worked as a mechanic for Phend & Brown and later, C.S. Myers Ford.

Emogene M. Davis, 101, North Webster, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Goshen Hospital. She was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Rushville, to Glenn Lewis and Edythe Belle Longfellow Greenlee.

Sandra K. "Sandy" Boyer, 78, Syracuse, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the Warsaw Meadows Care Center. She was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Three Rivers, Mich., to Wendell L. and Melvae Marie Houser Drew.

Macks S. Swick, 71, Warsaw, formerly of rural Claypool, died at 9:48 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born Dec. 9, 1946, in Kosciusko County, to Claude E. and Fern E. Warren Swick. He remarried on Dec. 9, 2003, in Warsaw, to Donna McCord. She survives.

Matias Luva-Garcia, 2 days, died at 5:57 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Melvin L. “Mel” Weaver, 91, Syracuse, died at 4:50 a.m. today, Feb. 6, 2018, at his home.

Larry D. Stabler, 76, Warsaw, died at 9:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. 

Norman L. Snyder, 79, Warsaw, died at 7:33 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

Geraldine “Gerry” Lucille Hawley, Warsaw, passed away at her residence at 11:01 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the age of 87. She was born May 26, 1930, in Burket, to Mace Allen Holloway and Ida Pearl Matthews Holloway. On June 13, 1953, in Warsaw, she was married to Robert Louis Hawley, who survives. Gerry was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where she was a 1948 graduate of Burket High School. She had lived on the family farm from 1962 until her passing.

Betty Jean Hinton, 92, Fort Wayne, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 28, 2018, at her home. She was born May 8, 1925, in Fort Wayne, to Orval O. and Vera F. Shock Brubaker. She grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated in 1943 from South Side High School, Fort Wayne. She was married on Dec. 2, 1944, in Norman, Okla., to Richard D. “Dick” Hinton, who preceded her on May 7, 2010.

Albert F. Orcutt, 92, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. He is remembered as a loving father and had noted that he “lived a great life with no regrets.” Al, as most knew him, was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Atwood. He was the son of Wesley L. and Ethel Bemis Orcutt. He was a 1944 graduate of Atwood High School and spent all of his lifetime in Kosciusko County.

Marjorie Edith Amiss, 75, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, in her Warsaw home. Marjorie was born in Warsaw to Earl Foy and Edith Viola Smith Banghart. She was a 1960 graduate of Warsaw High School and spent much of her lifetime in the Warsaw area. On June 6, 1993, Marjorie was married to the late Mack “Jake” Amiss in Warsaw. He preceded her in passing on April 6, 2017.

Mary Rose Grist, 91, formerly of North Manchester, died at 2:23 a.m. Feb. 3, 2018, in Wellbrooke of Wabash, Wabash. She was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Wabash County, to Jesse and Ella Freshour Harrison. She was married to Irvin W. Grist on Dec. 10, 1949. He died Sept. 13, 2009.

Ronnie Oliver, 60, Pierceton, passed away at 4:55 a.m. Feb. 4, 2018, in Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. On Dec. 23, 1957, in LaGrange, he was born to Leroy and Sharon Frain Oliver. On July 30, 1977, in Three Rivers, Mich., he was united in marriage to Jeannene Reffitt. He worked as a core setter at Dalton Foundries for 36 years.
