Cesare Vitale, 73, Warsaw, passed away at 9:37 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born Aug. 22, 1944, to Frank and Theresa Altimare Vitale in Chicago, Ill. He was a driver for Elisabeth Ludeman Center in Park Forest, Ill., for 12 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw.

Linda K. Geiger, 77, Akron, died at 3:44 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at her daughter’s residence She was born Jan. 30, 1941, in Rochester, to William and Mary Minert Nelson. On Aug. 26, 1963, in Akron, she married Roland “Bud” Geiger, who died Nov. 1, 2002.

Dr. Warren K. Garner, 91, North Manchester, died Feb. 24, 2018, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center.   He was born June 27, 1926, to the Rev. Holly P. and Kathryn Barkdoll Garner in Dahanu, India. He married Helen J. Yeager on Dec. 17, 1949. She died in 2016. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Alan Walker, 88, Warsaw, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw. He was born April 14, 1929, to Charles and Catherine Walker in Manchester, England.

Helen Holderman, 87, passed away at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, in Lake City Place, Warsaw. Helen spent most of her adult life in Kosciusko County and was a longtime resident of Chapman Lake. Helen was born to Ralph Thomas and Fladia Eaton Thomas on May 19, 1930, in Billings, Mont. Her family eventually moved to the area and Helen would graduate from Mentone High School.

James E. “Turkey” Bailey, 78, Warsaw, died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.   He was born April 27, 1939, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Grover and Maudie Hale Bailey. He was married to Elaine Hesner, who died March 20, 2000.

Lydia Ann Yoder, 88, Nappanee, died at 1:59 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Goshen Hospital. She was born Jan. 26, 1930, to Dan and Susie Mast Yoder. She made custom draperies and quilts.

Ronald Randels, 46, Winona Lake, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.

Evelyn Irene “Nanny” Welty died Feb. 20, 2018, at 8:20 p.m. She was 92. Evelyn was born Aug. 11, 1925, to A.M. and Maude Hepler Hawley on the family farm in Millwood. Her father, a carpenter, had built their seven-room house with its water pump in the kitchen, washboard and outhouse (but no electricity). She shared a bed with two of her 11 siblings. They walked to a one-room schoolhouse with a stove and single water bucket when they got old enough, then rode a bus to the high school in Etna Green. Her favorite childhood memories were oranges and Jello-O at Christmas, an aunt in Wisconsin who would send a “real tree” in the mail, and the baby and paper dolls she sometimes received as gifts. “Oh I loved them,” she said. “I spent hours with them.”

Edward R. “Ed” Likens, 84, of Warsaw, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, in his residence. He was born June 1, 1933, in North Webster, to Cyril “Bus” and Myrtle Beezley Likens. Ed was united in marriage to Patricia Johnson in Bluefield W.Va., on Aug. 15, 1959.

Talitha Day Fair, Ph.D., went on to be with Jesus from her Warsaw home on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at 5 a.m. She had been struggling with health issues for several years. Talitha was born in Indianapolis to Joy Day and Ellis Fair. She spent a few childhood years with them in other states; Dr. Fair considered herself to be a Warsaw native, however.

Elizabeth Lorraine Burkholder, 70, Warsaw, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at her home. She was born to Tobe and Lizzie Winger Troyer on Dec. 29, 1947, in LaGrange. Elizabeth graduated from Honeyville Primary School. She worked as a housekeeper. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and sewing.

Max Lesley Lotz, 66, Pierceton, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at 4:55 a.m. in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. He was born Nov. 20, 1951, in Rochester, to Max Eugene Lotz and Elizabeth “Betty” Fleck Grant.

Sandra Irene Frush, Warsaw, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, at the age of 78. She was born June 1, 1939, in Warsaw, to Clarence James Salman and Irene Rhoades Salman. On June 1, 1958, in Pierceton, she married Earl Burkett Frush, who passed away Feb. 21, 2011, after sharing 52 years together.

Imogene Haupert, 88, North Manchester, died at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, at 2:29 p.m. Feb. 16, 2018. She was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Grant County, to Homer and Hazel Reed Beedle. On Sept. 11, 1949, she married Doyle R. Haupert; he died in November 2005.

Charles F. “Sonny” Green, 86, Warsaw, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at 6:35 a.m. in his residence. He was born on April 25, 1931, in Newcastle Township, Fulton County, to Charles E. and Fredia Yeazel Green. On June 27, 1951, he was united in marriage to Jennie Hall Green in Roann. He proudly served our country in The United States Air Force from Feb. 6, 1951, to Dec. 11, 1953. His company was the 3rd Motor Transport Squad, which he served with in England.

Norman E. Brown, 89, Warsaw, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at 4:02 p.m. in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Warsaw, to Roscoe and Nellie Ellis Brown. A lifetime area resident, he was formerly employed by the Oasis Club, the Elks Club and Holiday Inn, all of Warsaw, as a bartender.

Stephen Glenn "Steve" Jones, 55, Leesburg, died Jan. 28, 2018. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, and one hour prior to the services. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 in the North Webster Elementary School gymnasium, 5745 N. 750E, North Webster.

Dr. Talitha D. Fair, 71, Warsaw, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at her home.
