NORTH MANCHESTER – Herbert A. Underwood, 78, of North Manchester, died at 7:50 a.m. July 27, 2011, at Covington Manor, Fort Wayne. He was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Wabash County, to Elmer A. and Rachael C. Kissinger Underwood. After his mother’s death in 1937, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Opal M. Knapp Underwood. On Sept. 6, 1964, in North Manchester, he married Carolyn Sue Metzger, who survives.
