An Akron man arrested Thursday faces drug and child pornography charges after an overdose in March.

AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley High School Work Based Learning (WBL) administrators and students hosted the 2018 Employer Appreciation Banquet on May 10 at the Akron Community Center.

The rider of a scooter was injured when the vehicle was involved in a crash with a car at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. The incident occurred at the intersection of Market and Indiana streets, Warsaw. The rider was transported to a hospital by Lutheran EMS. The scene was cleaned up in a matter of minutes. A semi tractor pulling a trailer containing three pontoon boats and motors and other marine supplies was struck by a northbound train in Leesburg around 7:30 a.m. today. In the above photo the semi pulling the boats came to rest at the Van Buren Street intersection.The driver of the semi, Charles A. Cloud II, Elkhart, told police he was taking a detour through Leesburg because of construction on Ind. 15 when the trailer became stuck on the tracks after he made a sharp turn at the Van Buren Street crossing. The driver called police to tell them his rig was stuck on the tracks. Police contacted Norfolk Southern officials who reached the train’s engineer. The engineer said he saw the trailer and was braking, but could not stop in time to avoid a collision. Damage to the train and semi tractor was minimal, but the trailer and cargo were heavily damaged. Also damaged were signal arms and the controller cabinet at the crossing. There were no injuries. The annual DARE graduation ceremony for Warsaw Community Schools sixth-graders took place Tuesday evening at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center in Winona Lake. It included entertainment, a keynote speech from WCS Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert, special recognitions and awards and a laser light show. Schools represented included Sacred Heart, Jefferson, Claypool, Lincoln, Eisenhower, Leesburg, Washington, Madison and Harrison elementaries. The DARE program turns 30 years old on Sept. 19, according to Warsaw Police Department DARE officers Roy Navarro and Allen Danko. Over 50 race fans attended Monday night’s Kosciusko County Fair Board meeting to not only voice their support for the fair’s efforts to fight litigation to end motorized racing there, but to also encourage the fair to open the track up to more racing.
