No Injuries Reported In Wednesday’s House Fire In Syracuse

SYRACUSE – An unoccupied house sustained $80,000 in damage from a fire Wednesday that remains under investigation.

No one was injured in the blaze at 10469 N. Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse.

According to a news release from the Turkey Creek Fire Territory, firefighters responded to the fire at 9:11 a.m. Wednesday. The home is owned by Curtis and Natalie Smeltzer.





The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

American Red Cross assisted the homeowners with clothing and provided support for firefighting personnel.

The fire was extinguished by 10:18 a.m.

The Turkey Creek Fire Territory was provided support from the North Webster Fire Department, the Milford Fire Department, the Goshen Fire Department, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Kosciusko County Squad 70 Fire Investigation Team. The Benton Fire Department was placed on standby for the Turkey Creek Fire Territory during the event.
