I attended the recent Wayne Township trustee meeting. It was an eye-opener in that it was announced at the meeting — and I have the paperwork to show — that they did not allow for questions.
Fortunately I have been to hear Courtney Tritch speak on many occasions, and impressive she is. This is a person who truly cares about people — one who is all-inclusive, genuine and compassionate. These admirable qualities clearly stand out in her positive television ads.
I am writing this letter in support of Mike Coon’s candidacy for the Warsaw Community Schools Board, representing District 1.
It has come to my attention that there is some confusion about township surplus funds.
Our national and local politics are increasingly divisive. It seems that most Americans, including many of those whom I speak with as I canvass door to door, are disengaged and even tired of politics in general.
Townships have been around since the Northwest Territory was divided into townships in 1787! Currently 13 states still have townships and township trustees.
Twenty-five years ago, Manchester Community Schools decided to renovate Manchester High School. The original plan was to remodel and add space to the academic areas of the building built in 1960.
I have been a critic of government overreach for a number of years, but I was shocked to see that government overreach can be found in our own county.
Thank you, Michael Alspaugh, for your obviously sincere and critical letter to the Times-Union editor.
Right on the heels of utter devastation wrought by hurricanes Florence and Michael comes an alarming report in the prestigious journal Nature that mitigation of global climate change will require a massive switch to plant-based eating.

When my husband I sat in our living room in the early ’90s discussing the vision for Our Father's House, we never gave much thought to a funeral. My husband David stood behind me and said, “We can do this."
I find myself in a position with the need rather than desire to write this letter. It has been brought to my attention by others that Shari Benyousky has used my picture in her campaign material.
This letter is in response to Laura Deal-Decker's letter. I am an investigative clerk in the Wayne Township trustee's office.
Thank you for taking the time to consider the importance of township trustees in a recent opinion column.
Accolades to the people representing the fight for better wind farm ordinances.
In reading "Trustee Candidate Vows To Be Good Steward," it sounds like the current office and the group I'm running with have two different philosophies.
I’m wondering who the wheel is that turns on South Barbee Drive to warrant new blacktop when most roads anyplace else need it worse with a h*** of a lot more traffic.
The Wayne Township trustee position is open. After many years of service, Sheila Burner is stepping down.
The protesters I saw on TV made me think of proud clowns following a herd of donkeys, stepping in the donkey doo-doo and spreading it around.
Jesus received a fairer trial than the grilling Brett Kavanaugh received when a woman accused him of attempted rape and couldn't present evidence it even happened.
The farce taking place over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh makes me sick!
I really enjoyed Ken Locke's article "Churches Need Higher Standard in Age of Sexual Abuse" (Sept 6, 2018, page 5A). I'm glad to see church leaders exhorting us to live up to the teachings of Jesus. Sadly, many churches are more interested in coverup than cleanup.
I’m sure we’ve all noticed several of our food establishments have had to change their hours due to lack of employees.
