Thank you, Michael Alspaugh, for your obviously sincere and critical letter to the Times-Union editor. You cannot support Shari Benyousky for Wayne Township trustee because you believe Benyousky is a liberal who will “spend every penny we have saved on pet projects that she and her liberal friends find appealing.”
You have been misinformed. Shari is fiscally conservative and has voted for good Republicans many times in her life. Shari and the rest of her team have no pet projects. Our campaign is not about slogans or political teams. Our concern on Shari Benyousky’s Wayne Township slate of candidates is taxation without any need.
Taxpayers — you and me — should keep our own money if it is not going to be used and used well. To me, that sounds more like a conservative political philosophy than anything else. Taxing us, then building a $1.25 million cash surplus when you already have $250,000 in the Rainy Day Fund sounds like plain old overtaxing to me.
