Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:Many substances are addictive. From caffeine to cigarettes to crack cocaine to heroin to finally crystal meth and everything in between, we humans have had to deal with our addictions small or large.

Editor, Times-Union:The recent article that Michael Hastings published in Rolling Stone magazine about General Stanley McChrystal and his senior media aid, Duncan Boothby is now history.

Editor, Times-Union:I was going to write something up for the newspaper about fireworks when I read this blog. He says it masterfully.  Here was my response to the author:

Editor, Times-Union:In 2001, the Winona Lake Town Council and Kosciusko County Commissioners entered into an agreement to improve County Road 250 East from the old Pennsylvania railroad tracks south to Pierceton Road.

- Good Neighbors - Springhill Migration Good Neighbors Editor, Times-Union: I would like to thank the The Good Neighbors of Claypool. On June 5th several people showed up to help fix up my house, for me and my daughters. They put up a new privacy fence along the alley so my girls would be safe, they landscaped and planted plants and flowers, cleaned up my yard, and are still in the process of decorating a play area, and other things. Most of the people I had never met, and it amazes me these people give up their free weekends to help people.I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart, you touched our lives and hearts forever.I can't wait to volunteer mine and my daughters' time to help give back to this amazing program.God bless each one of you.

- Thanks For The Honor - Cornea Donation - Knight/Alford - Conflict Resolution - Thanks To Marsh Thanks For The Honor Editor, Times-Union: I want to thank the Warsaw-Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, Biomet Inc., the Government Issues Committee, Jean Northenor and this community for selecting me to receive the Chamber's "Excellence in Government" award. Many people other than myself would be more deserving of this distinction and, for this, I feel very humble and most honored.I have lived in the Warsaw-Kosciusko County area all of my life and have found it so easy to serve when you live in a community surrounded by caring and cooperative people. It has been my privilege to serve this community. Thanks again.

Editor, Times-Union:Sunday afternoon, needing some information from a company, I called the 800 number.

Editor, Times-Union:"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your words say, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.

Editor, Times-Union:Do you remember seeing Jewish people torn from their homes in Gaza in 2005?

Editor, Times-Union:I wanted to take a moment to write a letter to your paper about an article that I read in your paper while visiting your community for a very sad event.

This is the fourth part of my letter on the subject of secession.

Editor, Times-Union:Even though I am a Christian man, I never claimed to be perfect, as no one is, but I certainly am not the "pervert" that I have been made out to be, by malicious rumors and gossip.

Editor, Times-Union:Linda, you ignored literally every single thing that I talked about in my letter, including cold hard facts that you referred to as “ignorant.” If you can’t accept the truth for what it is, then I cannot reason with you.

Editor, Times-Union:I am writing this letter to recommend Randy Head for Indiana Senate.

Editor, Times-Union:Several months ago I met with Gary and Mary Gerard over lunch to discuss the issue of meth use in our community.

I'm not generally one to subscribe to the notion of a slippery-slope argument, where one bad idea leads to another and then another. But I'm leaning that way over the noise debate currently taking place in the county. What started as a handful of county residents legitimately irritated at a few pet owners allowing their dogs to bark incessantly, is starting to snowball. Now we're told that not only barking dogs should be the target of the ordinance, but motorcycles and snowmobiles should also be added to the list of offending racket-makers.

Editor, Times-Union:We appreciate everyone calling about the closing of the Salvation Army Family Store.

Editor, Times-Union:I would like to thank my family for giving me such support and strength through this most despicable campaign.

Editor, Times-Union: The nation is living with the consequences of some 35 years of misguided intentions brought to us by government at all levels. It made little difference who was behind the wheels of government, the direction didn’t change. While directing us on this path, government sought to bring us to a higher level of prosperity. Such a level, we now find, it could ill afford.

Editor, Times-Union:What made Senator Feinstein retract her statement that serious leaks concerning the safety and well being put out by the White House?

- Immigration Controversy - Child Care - Claypool Communism - Where Is The Law? - Jesus - Bush's Rating Immigration Controversy Editor, Times-Union: The deadline for American citizens to pay their income tax is days away. Our taxes pay for services such as roadways, police, schools, social services, medical aid and more.Too often, our money is used for projects which we do not approve.Still, we have to pay our taxes. The monies raised through this system keep our country functioning and enable us to live peaceful lives.

- Save McGuire - Republicans Don't Think - Don't Terminate McGuire - Redeemer Secrets Save McGuire Editor, Times-Union: Be careful what you wish for, Warsaw! On Monday, June 6, the school board will convene for a special meeting at Attorney Max Reed's office to discuss what options they have regarding Superintendent McGuire's contract.

Editor, Times-Union:Pssst, tax slave, lend me your ear.

Editor, Times-Union:This is my view on several articles that I have recently read. One by Michael Reagan, one by Kevin Raypholtz and one by John DeGroff. All have been taken from recent copies of The Times-Union.

Editor, Times-Union: The following letter is a new addition to my series of letters to the editor summarizing foundational human rights, which have been printed in the Jan. 10, April 12 and prior editions of the Times-Union letters to the editor page. In those letters I gave a partial summary of the following fundamental liberties: freedom of religion, freedom of self-defense, freedom of thought and inquiry, freedom of dissent, freedom of commerce, freedom of movement and freedom of communication.
