I am writing this letter to recommend Randy Head for Indiana Senate. Randy and I first met when we were students together at Wabash College. Randy graduated from Wabash College, summa cum laude. He was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He then graduated from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington.
Randy's public service is diverse and has been continuous since his graduation from law school. He has worked with me in the Cass County Prosecutor's Office since 2003.
Randy possesses a keen intellect, with an unqualified and boundless energy for public service. I have rarely encountered a person with Randy's ability, and the willingness to put that ability to work in public service. Randy's character is impeccable. His moral compass needs no guidance. I have seen him perform at the highest levels, despite sometimes extreme circumstances.
In his career, he has tried 26 murder jury trials and more than 70 serious felony jury trials, including child molestation, rape and felony drug cases.
What has impressed me the most about Randy is his work behind the scenes. In 2004, Randy and I tried a rape case together. In that case, Randy worked tirelessly to ensure that the rape victim received justice. Never before had I witnessed anyone put so much of himself into a case, with unparalleled energy, devotion and commitment to the task at hand. Randy carried that victim's torch unwaveringly and without doubt. When Randy finished his closing argument, the courtroom was silent. It was one of those rare performances that make you know that public service and advocating for those who have had horrible wrongs done to them is one of the most important callings possible. Randy has answered that call on occasions too numerous to count.
The best thing that I can say about Randy is that he takes his job as seriously as it should be taken, without taking himself seriously. I always know that Randy's decisions and performance will be far above my expectations, because he demands that of himself.
I believe that because of his outstanding work ethic, life experiences and knowledge of the legal system, Randy is uniquely qualified to be your next Indiana State Senator.
