Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:Mrs. Arnold, you are the one who is brainwashed.

Editor, Times-Union:Why is it when Governor Daniels is in town, there is never anything told several days in advance about when and where he will be in our city so that people can approach him to ask questions and make comments?

Editor, Times-Union:This has been a great victory, I belief, for the American people.

- Breastfeeding - Guns - Gun Control Breastfeeding Editor, Times-Union: Congratulations are in order! Breastfeeding rates continue to rise in the United States. The fastest-growing increase is among the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) populations. We work hard to inform our clients of all of the benefits of breastfeeding so they can make an informed decision regarding infant feeding. The American Academy of Pediatrics makes a bold statement to say that infants should ideally be breastfed for at least the first 12 months of life. You would be surprised to know how many people have never heard of this highly researched suggestion.

Editor, Times-Union:Tragically, Mr. Gerard's News Views column entitled “I am a RINO” is most disappointing.

Editor, Times-Union:I wonder what Mr. Alspaugh thought would happen after the referendum was passed. Instead of blaming your assessment, blame the people who didn’t vote.

- Christianity - Animal Welfare Christianity Editor, Times-Union: Does Jesus Christ expect Christians, who truly love him, to love all people regardless of what sin they have committed? Is it true that to love these people is to condone their sin? Let's let Jesus answer for himself. From John 13:34,35. "A new command I give you; love one another, as I have loved you, so you must love one another.By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." From Matthew 5:44-48.

Editor, Times-Union: One of the ways that farmers and friends of farmers help to support the people of the world is by donating animals to people who have limited resources in countries all over the world.

Editor, Times-Union:Dear Santa,In all my 78 years, I've never written to you before, but I am getting pretty old.

Editor, Times-Union:Last November I wrote a letter to the editor regarding the fact that the farmers market name of 35 years had been stolen and applied to the newly created market.

- Minority Teachers - EDIT - Death Penalty Minority Teachers Editor, Times-Union: I would like to respond to a recent series of articles in the Times-Union titled "Student Minority Populations On The Rise."According to David Slone's article, area superintendents have difficulty obtaining minority staff despite their best efforts.Slone quotes Dr.Harman: "We would welcome the opportunity to employ more teachers from the minority community." Over the past 15 years, my wife (a local resident, minority, master's, certified at IPFW to teach in Indiana) has applied at these schools without success.Today, she is well employed outside the teaching profession.Apparently, these community leaders have made hypocritical statements to you, and your report is incomplete.

Editor, Times-Union:So JB Miller of San Francisco threw my name into the mix regarding the gun control issue.

- In God We Trust - Stealing From Graves - Thanks To Warsaw PD - Solar Lights Stolen - Wagon Wheel - Smoking - Support For Tara In God We Trust Editor, Times-Union: In God We Trust. This was placed on our coins in 1864, put on our paper money in 1955 and in 1956 Congress passed a resolution declaring "In God We Trust" the national motto. This has survived many court decisions. To many Americans this motto is true.Another thing, we say "God Bless America."He has blessed America. We are the most prosperous nation in the world and have the best of everything.

Roads and streets continue to dominate the conversation around city hall.

Editor, Times-Union:I lived in New York City (NYC) during the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. Way back when Rush Limbaugh only needed the talent on loan from God and was not deceiving several doctors across the country to receive 19 overlapping prescriptions in five months to feed his addiction to painkillers. Back then I would listen to the ditto heads speak of NYC and Washington, D.C., as if they were Sodom and Gomorrah. But then 9/11 happened.

Editor, Times-Union:Yes, Mr. Patton, I am most certainly aware that not much is made here anymore, but I have found a few things made in the USA.

Editor, Times-Union:I read with interest the news item that appeared in the Times-Union several weeks ago concerning our state government, specifically our governor, trying to eliminate some expenditures in order to bring down the cost of operating Indiana.

Editor, Times-Union:Ms. Rebecca Kubacki:I’m glad to hear you’re a member of the NRA, but it makes your vote even harder to understand. As an NRA member you must know you fell right into the anti-gunners favorite trap, the so-called common sense gun restrictions.

Editor, Times-Union:One of the darkest days of my life was April 30, 1975. My boyhood friend and fellow Eagle Scout, Lance Cpl. Darwin L. Judge, was killed along with Cpl. Charles McMahon of Woburn, Mass.

Editor, Times-Union:Recently, someone brought up the subject of "women preachers" that "started my wheels turning."

Editor, Times-Union:As our president pushes for affordable health care for every citizen, consequently, millions are going without health care, thousands are losing their health care everyday, not to mention the hundreds of thousands that go bankrupt, lose their homes, their livelihoods, ultimately, their will to go on.

Editor, Times-Union:Did you know that in Indiana, when police seize cash, luxury cars and other assets from criminal suspects, any proceeds that exceed law enforcement's costs are supposed to go to the state's schools?

Editor, Times-Union:I go on record publicly to concur with the recent article by Times-Union General Manager Gary Gerard on the workings and the process of a grand jury, most importantly that all given indictments by a grand jury against those so named in Kosciusko Co., as brought forth at this time by said Grand Jury, are innocent until proven guilty.

Editor, Times-Union:Little children come to me sad and not knowing what to expect.

Editor, Times-Union:The staff at Scearce Rudisel Architects regretfully announces the passing of CEO, president and architect Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan.
