Editor, Times-Union:Anyone who has been following politics for the last decade or so should realize that you don't have to be smart or experienced to get elected to any office in our government. It seems to me all you need is to be well connected with the money. Here lies the problem. I like that word lie it has two meanings and they both fit here.

- Well-Written Well-Written Editor, Times-Union: The letter from Mr.Harold Woodward Jr., Times-Union 6-30-06, was one of the finest letters ever published by the Times-Union. Mr.Woodward's articulate, genuine, non-aggressive explanation of his personal belief, his vivid description of exactly how he feels as a liberal, was an outstanding article! I doubt Mr.Woodward and I could ever agree on such issues as the Iraq War, illegal immigration, same-sex marriage, gun control, etc., but I'll bet my next month's military retired pay he'd make a credible, determined opponent in a debate.
- Abortion Defined - Spelling Bee Parents - Accident Comfort - Older Drivers - Different - Wawasee Spirit - Read The Scriptures Abortion Defined Editor, Times-Union: One issue that comes up each election year is that of pro-life vs.pro-choice.The terms have to do with abortion and whether it should be legal. The problem is, we have two "pro" words and no "against" words.Who wants to be "Against-life" or "Against-choice"?Ê We need to get beyond the slogans and recognize the actions that they promote.A definition of abortion as it applies, not in the medical or legal sense, but in the moral sense needs to be considered.

- Preconceived Notions - Responds To Perry - Future Readers - Hunting Preserve Zoning Preconceived Notions Editor, Times-Union: A sound conclusion is reached only after examining relevant facts, and making specific comparisons of assertion.Especially those assertions that are 180 degrees opposite one's own position.Assertions and claims are preconceived notions absent the method of inductive reasoning. The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle discovered both deductive and inductive logic.Notice my word is discovered, not invent or create, for reason and logic already existed in the great reservoir of understanding that I've referred to in an earlier letter.
