Editor, Times-Union: Most Americans have read the “Peanuts” cartoon in which Charlie Brown, seeing Lucy holding a football on the ground for him to kick, asks her, “What kind of fool do you take me for?” Lucy, knowing Charlie suspects she will once again pull the ball away at the last second causing him to fall, responds, “I’m not trying to make a fool out of you,” then lectures Charlie of his need to “trust someone who is not trustworthy” if he’s ever “going to get along in this world.” Unfortunately, Charlie agrees, runs at the ball, kicks and once again goes “wham!,” falling on his exterior as Lucy pulls the ball away as she’s done so many times in the past. Knowing Charlie’s weaknesses, Lucy adds insult to injury by asking him, “See you here again next year?” Like Charlie, most of us have at times placed our trust in people like the Lucys (females) or the Barack Obamas of this world. Knowing, like Charlie should have, nothing good most often happens when we misplace our trust and more likely something bad happens – we too go “wham!” President Obama is the trusted one, the elected leader and master of the most untrustworthy party of deception ever – popularly or unpopularly known as Democrats or liberals or socialists. Tragically, those “Charlie Brown”-like Americans who continue to trust Obama and those others still undecided are destined, like Charlie, to go “wham” if they once again ignore the lessons of history, especially the painful deceptions, debacles and springly out of control debt of the past four years. As the party of perpetual deceptions 2008 and 2012 presidential candidate, Barack Obama promised “hope and change!” How’s that going for all of us? Are gas prices high enough yet? Or food and other necessities? Has Lucy’s “See you here again next year?” wake-up moment opened your eyes? Restarted our brains or restored good common sense? Or do we, like Charlie Brown, still need more chances to learn how to – “trust someone who is not trustworthy” so that we can better get long in this world? Learning to trust the untrustworthy, for all those Charlie Browns still unfortunately among us, begins with a daily indoctrination best received from liberalisms’s high priests in major news media. Representing ABC, CBS, NBC are priest-like voices as trusted as “Lucy” and Barack’s. Seductive as Lucy and deceptive like Obamas, the voices of Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, David Gregory et al masquerade their daily prejudiced views as impartial news thereby holding captive a trusting audience slavishly addicted to their priestly masters philosophy. Liberalism is such a philosophy and religious world views nearly as fanatic as radical Islam. Minds so captured by this false belief will most likely not be fair and balanced, will not faithfully defend our Constitution, our history and way of life, nor defend free enterprise, free speech especially opposing views, and freedom of religion as contrasted with freedom from religion. May God help us. The Grand Old Party led by Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan offer we the people positive hope and change Obama never delivered. Pray we remain one nation under God so that we always have liberty and justice for all. Ray Webster Warsaw
