Letters To The Editor

- Stolen Sign - Honesty - Trust Law - Act Of Kindness - Sign Of The Times - Stolen Sign Editor, Times-Union: Students at Warsaw Community High School have been pulling pranks for years and will keep doing it for years to come.Harmless pranks are one thing, but when theft, vandalism, trespassing and destruction of property become involved it is a different story. On Jan.18, between midnight and 6 a.m., our sign was stolen from B&J Auto Salvage. The sign was a custom-built 1969 Torino. The entire sides of this car were cut off and welded back together, resulting in a 3-foot-wide, full-length model of this car.The sign was stacked 12 feet off the ground.

Editor, Times-Union:Why do we teach children to say "no" to drugs, then encourage them to use Methylphenidate in the classroom?

Editor, Times-Union:Is it possible to ignore immense human suffering caused by violent aggression? One can almost become numb to it because our news has so many reports of murders and mass murders by Islamic terrorists.

Editor, Times-Union:The Benghazi riot investigation continues looking into the possibility of a coverup.

- Underpinnings Of War - Voting Underpinnings Of War Editor, Times-Union: Re: Leslie E.Swanson So, Ms.Swanson, you heard our current conflict in the Middle East is some kind of holy war.Perhaps then you've also heard about world peace. Both are religious superstitions, or if you prefer, fairy tales, which have only served to inspire warriors to subject themselves to the possibility of incineration on battlefields for centuries. It's not surprising to me that many do not understand war.The withholding of truth is the major strategy of power. Today, society suffers from information overload. When facts and fables are present in equal amount, truth frequently evades us.

Editor, Times-Union:Sounds like Mr. Beall has told our county's decision makers what he wants and the commissioners are tripping all over themselves to make this happen.

- Missing Monkey Editor, Times-Union: Missing Monkey Editor, Times-Union: Between the hours of 9 p.m.to 9 a.m.Sunday night to early Monday morning, someone or someones helped themselves to our VBS monkey at Bethel Baptist Church on Pierceton Road outside of Pierceton.I realize this is probably a senior prank or something to that effect, but the fun is over. Please be so kind as to return the monkey to Bethel.

Editor, Times-Union:I would like to voice my support for Randy Polston for school board. Other writers have written about his experience as an educator and his dedication to doing what is best for his students. I would just like to add that at this time we need someone on the board who really understands the needs of our students and our teachers.

Editor, Times-Union:Could Ms. Wheeler please provide me the names of the doctors she mentions in the Nov. 10 Times-Union and how to contact them?

Editor, Times-Union:Just a short response to the John Routh letter of July 7.

Editor, Times-Union:I read with interest your coverage of Tuesday's meeting of the Kosciusko County commissioners.

- Suffering - Knox For Sheriff - Eye Donation - Aquatic Club Thanks Suffering Editor, Times-Union: To all people who are suffering, and without hope, this is to you. Life is at times very difficult, sometimes life is nearly unbearable. I speak the truth when I tell you, I know how depressing the trials of life can be. I grew up without a dad, and my mom was an alcoholic. My mom is OK now, I love her very much. My dad committed suicide about four years ago this March. I have been through the alcoholism that nearly cost me my life, and the depression into which my father sank so deeply that he killed himself. Yes I know.I have experienced the hopelessness that these things cause and the depths of depression that are a result.

Editor, Times-Union:What fun we had listening online to the WRSW broadcast of the Tiger's semi-state victory.

Editor, Times-Union: This letter is a follow up to a letter I wrote which appeared in the Feb. 3 edition of the Times-Union.

- A Girl's Dream - Fund-Raiser Rescheduled A Girl's Dream Editor, Times-Union: I read the fascinating account of the girl who "has a dream" in Abby's column - the girl whose greatest desire is to …

Editor, Times-Union:Infrequently, a local official (certainly not a politician) says something worthy of repeating. Such was the case recently for a fellow named George Robertson, in Warsaw.

Editor, Times-Union:Last night, my wife Mary and I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the North Central Indiana Right to Life banquet with a room full of nearly a thousand other attendees.

Editor, Times-Union: Well, it’s Warsaw election time again. Hurrah, hurrah! I notice my classmate from the class of 1956, Jerry Frush, is running for city council. Good Luck.

Editor, Times-Union:I just read in the Times-Union on page eight where these people in Brookville are complaining about the nativity scene.

Editor, Times-Union:I would like to start by thanking the Times-Union for hosting the Mayoral Debate April 26 at the Wagon Wheel Theatre.

- Boating Mishap - Humane Society - Proud Of Kosciusko County - Literacy Volunteers Boating Mishap Editor, Times-Union: Our July 4 started out like any other, a family cookout and a day out on the boat.Little did we know it would take a turn for the worse.Luckily there are still people in this world who help those in need.

Editor, Times-Union:Sorry, Sgt. Major, but I must disagree with you on this one. The idea that the south was fighting for states' rights is in fact the southern "spin" on the war.

Editor, Times-Union:Basic characteristics of Communism continued:

Editor, Times-Union:Silent No More,Please start working on a pledge to retire Dan Coates. It has been a long time since Indiana has had two Democratic Senators, and your system seems to be working. Keep up the good work.Mike OrrWarsaw, via e-mail
