Letters To The Editor

- Weather Delay Weather Delay Editor, Times-Union: Why did Tippecanoe Valley students not get a delay on Wednesday, March 27th, with such dangerous weather and road conditions? Our administrators must not have used the resources at their disposal.Really all they needed to do was get out on the county roads or look out the window to know that at least a two-hour delay was necessary.I am happy that no students were injured, but am upset that they were endangered.Tippecanoe Valley is usually one of the last schools to call a delay.Did we not get up early enough to follow suit again? This was a disgrace! Every child that went to school under the conditions of the road and lack of visibility knew they were not safe.Safety of our children should be first at all times.

- Congress - KLS Says Thanks - Special Olympics - Hope For The Future Congress Editor, Times-Union: On Friday, April 27, you published a letter from Mr.Michael L.Stevens which lamented the fact that in our president's first 100 days he did a lot of yap, yap, and that he had not given him the tax break he promised in his campaign.Obviously Mr.Stevens must not understand how our federal government operates. The president is not a dictator, nor do I ever want him to be.Congress is the lawmaking body. The president can only recommend and push for changes, but the Congress must actually enact the laws.Get on the members of Congress to enact the changes you want which the president is asking for and trying to get for us.

Let's deal in facts here, Jerry, not hyperbole and hackneyed stereotypes.Since you chose to make Tiger Football the target of your attack, we'll stick with that program.I'm more familiar with it than many of the other athletic programs offered at WCHS, but what I'll say below applies equally well across the board.

After reading through the recent letters to the editor, I can't help but think some of the people reacting to Hurricane Katrina's destruction have lost their minds. Let me get this straight.According to several submissions to the Times-Union, the destruction of Katrina was apparently sent by God to punish New Orleans for public acts of homosexuality.Am I reading this correctly or did I misinterpret something? I must admit I could have easily missed the point, it's hard to fully digest an opinion with a jaw dropped to the ground.
