William Bill Frederick Long Sr., 87, of Warsaw, died at 1:39 p.m. March 1, 2009, in his residence.

He was born March 1, 1922, in Warsaw, to Carl Frederick and Olive Long. On April 20, 1946, in Warsaw, he married Carol Sue Shambarger, who died Feb. 13, 2001.

A lifetime Warsaw resident, he worked at Gatke, Winona Lake; Yeager and Ganshorn John Deere Dealership; and Kosciusko County Highway Dept. He co-owned Cozy Cottage Restaurant. He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church, Silver Lake. He loved the wildlife.

Surviving are a daughter, Connie Sue Fannin, Warsawtwo sons, Allen Lee Long, South Carolina, and Bill Jr. (and spouse Vicky) Long, Warsaw; three granddaughters, Rhonda Cole, Kim Long-Blevins and Kara Lemler, all of Warsaw; three grandsons, James Fleming and Benny Long, both of Warsaw, and William Long, Rolling Brook, Ill.; four great-granddaughters, Danielle Smith, Hope Blevins and Raven and Isabella Lemler, all of Warsaw; three great-grandsons, Benjamin and Dylan Long and Zane Blevins, all of Warsaw; and a brother, Russell (and spouse Esther Mae) Long, Gas City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Long; and two sisters, Mary Lou Engle and Shirley Meyers.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Gale Janofski officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
