Main Street Warsaw Announces New Mural Project At Downtown’s Southern Gateway

Posted

Main Street Warsaw announced the start of a new mural project at 220 S. Buffalo St., bringing a ew piece of public art to one of downtown Warsaw’s southern gateways.
The mural, created by artist Cassandra Graber, titled “With Love from Warsaw,” will be installed on the building owned by Angie Racolta, which represents Graber’s idealized vision of Warsaw, according to a news release from Main Street Warsaw. She will be using virtual reality goggles to apply the artwork to make the drawing and painting process more efficient and precise.
Her work was selected by a joint committee of Main Street Warsaw board members, peer artists from Warsaw Public Arts Commission and property owner Racolta from more than 10 other artworks submitted for the project.
The mural is expected to take approximately 10 to 14 days, with Main Street Warsaw currently working to plan opportunities for community members to participate in the project.
One of the mural’s most distinctive features will extend beyond the building itself. The artwork will overflow into the street, incorporating the entire section of pavement directly in front of the mural, the release states. The design will create a unique interactive experience for visitors and serve as a new photo location in downtown Warsaw.
The mural will also include a QR code directing visitors to the Downtown Warsaw Cultural Arts District page, connecting the artwork to the broader vision for arts, culture and placemaking throughout downtown.
“Public art has the ability to transform how people experience a place,” said Terry Sweeney, downtown development director for Main Street Warsaw. “This project is a great example of the vision outlined in the Downtown Warsaw Cultural Arts District Plan coming to life. We’re excited to see this space become a welcoming gateway into downtown and an experience that encourages people to stop, take a photo, explore and spend time downtown.”
Main Street Warsaw has provided a façade improvement grant to pay up to 50% of the project’s cost. The goal of the mural is to beautify downtown’s southern gateway while creating an inviting destination that encourages visitation to downtown Warsaw, according to the release.
The project also represents continued community and downtown property-owner buy-in for the vision established through the Downtown Warsaw Cultural Arts District Plan, which was launched in November 2025. This is the second mural project to be announced since the plan’s launch, demonstrating continued momentum behind efforts to expand public art and cultural experiences throughout downtown.
Additional information about community participation opportunities and the mural’s progress will be shared by Main Street Warsaw as work continues.
