Vera Marcille Homan, 96, Winona Lake, passed away at 11:25 p.m. July 18, 2016, in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake.
She was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Milford, to Lewis Franklin and Pearl May Suter Rule. On March 19, 1939, at a farm near Claypool, she was united in marriage to John B. Homan, who preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a farm wife, mother and caretaker for many nieces and nephews. She retired from Whitley Products, South Whitley. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the family encourages the wearing of Cubs apparel to her service.
Surviving are three grandchildren: Kevin E. (and Myra) Mast, Pierceton, Lisa A. Mast, Warsaw, and Darrel D. Mast, South Whitley; four great-grandchildren: Heather A. (and spouse Ken) Gero, Havelock, N.C., David Sainer and Stephanie (and Randy Rose) Campbell, all of Pierceton, and Jared (and spouse Emma) Sainer, Warsaw; seven great-great grandchildren: Brock Sainer, Warsaw, Calvin Ballard, Miley Ballard, and Pearl Gero, all of Havelock, N.C., Jaycie Mast, Arizona, Irelynn, Griffin Rose, Pierceton, and Ashlynn Sainer, Warsaw; one son-in-law, Rex D. Mast, Warsaw; one sister-in-law, Glea Rule, Columbia City, and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ina Jeanette Mast; one great-grandson, Derrik Mast; four brothers: Wilbur, Junior, Lewis and Roscoe Rule and six sisters: Velma, Ethel and Arvada Rule, Irene Simison, Ina Shilling and Agnes Schooley.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Mark Fishburn officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
