Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Sams, 70, of Warsaw, died at 7:55 p.m. Dec. 5, 2010, in his residence, surrounded by his family who loved him very much.
He was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Kingsport, Tenn., to Marcelle and Lillian Stata Sams, who survive in Johnson City, Tenn. He married Dee Ann Lowe, who survives.
He lived in Kentucky, South Carolina, Bedford, Mays and Warsaw. He was senior minister and served churches in Kentucky; South Carolina; Dive Christian Church, Bedford; Center Christian, Mays; and First Christian Church, Warsaw. He actively worked with Cerebral Palsy Association and Optimist International. He graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School, Kingsport, in 1958; received his bachelor's degree from Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, Tenn., in 1962; and did graduate work at Anderson University School of Theology.
Also surviving are a son, Marcelle (and spouse Mindy) Sams, Greens Fork; a daughter, Patti Sams, Mascot, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Austin and Miranda Sams, Greens Fork; two brothers, Douglas (and spouse Shelby) Sams and Phillip (and spouse Sarah) Sams, all of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Warsaw, with Pastors Jim Ketchen and Gary Boschain officiating. Burial will be private.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
