SYRACUSE - Robert K. "Ken" Jennings, 65, of Winona Lake, and formerly of Syracuse, died at 2:24 p.m. Sept. 19, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born March 21, 1944, in Huntington, to Howard and Ethel Stoltz Jennings. In November 1967, he married Karen Ann Jennings, who died in 1999. In June 2002, he married Carla Smith, who survives.
He was an area resident since 1983, coming from Roanoke and Huntington. He was a quality assurance manager with AM General, South Bend; formerly worked at International Harvester, Fort Wayne; and was former owner of the Frog Tavern, Syracuse. He was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Syracuse, and attended Warsaw Community Church and Grace Village Chapel. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Indiana University. He was a developer of Pier 343 Condominium Complex, Lake Wawasee. He was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Also surviving are a daughter, Janelle (and spouse Christopher) Romano, Ashburn, Va.; a son, Jack (and spouse Tammy) Jennings, Warsaw; a stepdaughter, Tonya (and spouse Christopher) Gerhardt, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; three brothers: Doug (and spouse Patti) Jennings, Crystal Lake, Ill.; Ron (and spouse Carol) Jennings, New Haven; and Rick (and spouse Kelly) Jennings, Huntington; and a sister, Rosie (and spouse Jay) Hill, Huntington.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Syracuse, with Father Richard Hire officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery with graveside military honors by members of North Webster American Legion.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral home, Syracuse.
