Richard D. Black, 79, of Claypool, died at 12:18 p.m. Feb. 2, 2010, in his residence.
He was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Niles, Mich., to Rufus and Marie Black.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. SSGT Richard D. Black was honorably discharged Sept. 17, 1951. Moving to Kosciusko County from Niles, Mich., 39 years ago, he was a mechanic for Zimmer Inc. and R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling and fishing. He was a member of American Legion Post 49. He lived life to the fullest.
Surviving are a daughter, Grace Marie (and Juan Gabriel) Pedraza, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Trenton Black and Brionna Pedraza, both at at home. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Henning, and a sister, Lorraine Henning.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Rick Cooper of Touch of Life Church, Warsaw. Burial will be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green, with a military graveside service.
