Anthony, dude, what the heck? The tone of your letter was really way out there. Any point you were trying to make in your letter was lost in the tone and demeaning words you used against Mrs. Torpy. You may disagree with her, but she deserves better.
Now don't get me wrong, she and I do disagree on virtually everything, and her letter contained many factual errors, but I'll be danged if I'm gonna use words like honey and sweetheart to try to belittle anyone to make a point.
In the last few weeks, I made the decision to steer away from pointed letters and rebuttals of attacks and rise above the usual fare of letter we see in this paper (many examples, more than likely responding to you, are on this very page). Learn from my mistake because, really, it just causes more of an uproar and much ink is wasted when all people wanna do is argue over one letter.
We as a county should be talking about more important things. I encourage you to write another letter. In this town it takes guts to stand up as a Democrat, but don't disrespect. It hardens people's positions and you just come off looking as ignorant as some of the people who were writing hateful untrue things about me. Tell us why you chose to support Obama. How has he inspired you? How does he differ from McCain in important ways? Tell us why he would be best for this area or for the country or for the world. Take a breath. Watch the "Yes We Can" music video again and, in the spirit of change, write an inclusive, informative and happy letter that's going to get people off their rears and into the polls in November.
And if I may add - the ethanol plant that doesn't actually exist in Silver Lake turned up in North Manchester. So how about that?
