BOURBON - Phyllis J. Roy, 83, formerly of Bourbon, died Nov. 4, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Warsaw, where she resided.
She was born July 9, 1926, in Marshall County, to Walter and Hallie Gates Baker. On July 3, 1945, she married George Roy, who died Nov. 10, 1959.
A Bourbon area resident most all her life, she was a homemaker and formerly worked in restaurants in Bourbon, Milford, as well as Lamadre Restaurant and Lounge, Warsaw. She was a 1944 graduate of Bourbon High School, a member of the Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary and had attended Bourbon First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are seven children: Georgia (and spouse Tom) Coyle, Texas; Phillip (and spouse Carolyn) Roy, Columbia City; Andrea (and Roy) Jones, Columbus, Ohio; Sydney Roy, Warsaw; India (and spouse Tony) Castenada, of Munster; Dana (and spouse Craig) Byrd, Camas, Wash.; and Gina (and spouse Ken) Ashpole, Leesburg; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters: Francis Sopher, Coeur D. Alene, Idaho; Martha Klevjier, Federal Way, Wash.; Nancy (and spouse Marc) Marcusson, Fall Brook, Calif.; and Ruth White, Eugene, Ore.; and a brother, Robert Baker, Washington Circle, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
She donated her body to medical science therefore there will be no formal services at this time.
Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon. Burial will be in Parks Cemetery at a later date.
