NORTH MANCHESTER – Phyllis E. Montel, 85, of North Manchester, died at 5:15 p.m. Aug. 6, 2013, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Dec. 8, 1927, in  North Manchester, to Alvin and Orpha Weller Bolinger. On Jan. 11, 1948, she married F. Earl Montel, who survives.
She was a homemaker and attended First Brethren Church, North Manchester. She graduated from Chester High School, North Manchester, in 1946. She was a member of Gideons International Auxiliary. She was an Avon Representative for several years and was a custom seamstress. She and her husband were co-owners of Montel Livestock Equipment, North Manchester, for several years. She loved life and was dedicated to caring for her family.
Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Sue (and spouse Walter) Burns and Kathy Ann (and spouse Charles) Douglass, all of North Manchester; a brother, Ralph (and spouse Gloria) Bolinger, North Manchester; grandchildren: Shelly Leifer (and spouse David) Cunningham and Chad Allen, all of North Manchester; Greg (and spouse Jill) Caudill, Fort Wayne; Amy Jo Allen, Warsaw; Shane (and spouse Kim) Burns, Wabash; and Doug (and spouse Andrea) Douglass, and Brian (and spouse Sara) Douglass, all of Huntington; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at  Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut St., North Manchester, with Pastors J.P. Freeman and Kurt Stout officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
