Paul G. Deaton, 81, of 2672 S. Ind. 15, Warsaw, died at 10:32 p.m. March 2, 2009, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Claypool, to John and Cecil Parker Deaton. On May 21, 1952, he married Edith Kreis, who died in 2004.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he was a member of the American Legion. He worked in excavating and worked for the Kosciusko County Highway Dept.

Surviving are two sons, Tony (and spouse Marcia) Deaton, Stilwell, Kan., and Todd (and spouse Rhonda) Deaton, Warsaw; a daughter, Teri (and spouse Bob) Arnett, Winona Lake; six grandsons: Troy (and spouse Ashley) Deaton, Cory Deaton, Chase Deaton, Blake Deaton, and Andy (and spouse Chelsea) Arnett and Austin Arnett; four granddaughters, Ashlee (and spouse Jeff) Bachmann, Kacy (and spouse TJ) Dale, Sheena (and spouse Nate) Deaton-White and Haley (and spouse David) White; four great-grandsons, Parker Deaton, Max Dale and Caden and Camden Bachmann; and six great-granddaughters, Reid, Olivia and Molly Deaton, Gwen and Alice White and Elaine Arnett. He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
