Our Father’s House Director Says Donation Box Not A Dumpster

People are dumping their trash in the Our Father’s House donation box and Director Roz Morgan wants people to stop it.

“I don’t even know why some people would think this stuff is of any value,” Morgan said.

She said there are signs telling people not to donate during non-business hours. However, people still do, leaving Morgan to pick up and pay for the disposal of the trash.

Morgan said she spent $300 this month taking stuff to the landfill. She said this was in addition to her normal waste fees.

“That’s $300 I could have spent on the food pantry,” she said.

In addition to the cost, Morgan says she finds volunteers to help haul the trash to the landfill.

Our Father’s House, 2114 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw, is completely staffed by volunteers and 85 percent of its costs are paid for by sales from the thrift store.

“If you have something that needs to be taken to the landfill, take it the landfill. Stop using me as the middle man,” Morgan said.
