I am writing this letter on behalf of Rocky Goshert. As a former varsity coach, I worked closely with Sheriff Goshert for 13 years. He was my varsity assistant for the Wawasee girls basketball program.
The first characteristic of Sheriff Goshert that stands out is his integrity. It did not take long to know what he stood for and watch as he lived it. He worked two terms as sheriff while being our varsity assistant and that integrity never wavered while performing a very high, intense position. He was the example of a father figure to each one of our girls. Often our players treated him as their own dad.
Another characteristic that jumps out at you is trustworthiness. Whatever duty was entrusted to him, I knew would be done and done very well. He knew how to delegate to others and teach them how to get a job done.
Compassion also comes to mind as a strong characteristic of Sheriff Goshert. No matter how hard I might have been on a player or players, he would always show compassion and patience, while showing them the way to correct the situation.
I have seen him in action using these same characteristics at the department with his employees. He stands for what is right and good, which comes from his faith. I can assure you each decision made from Sheriff Goshert is for the betterment of the department first and foremost. Once the decision has been made he will stand by it. He performs at a very high intense level and can be trusted to make common-sense decisions in pressure situations.
The last characteristic was surprising to me, but he always had compassion on those who just could not stay out of trouble. There was a sense of love that he wanted to help as much as he could to the extent that they would allow him to. All the while, he knew there were consequences to what they chose.
There is not a better man with qualities and characteristics fit for Sheriff of Kosciusko County. No one with as much experience and knowledge to do the job as Sheriff Rocky Goshert.
