Miram “Mike” Curtis Dewart, 91, died Dec. 14, 2011, with his wife by his side.
He was born in 1920, in Milford, to John Lloyd and Faye Cory Dewart. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn Dewart.
He attended Indiana Central College, Indianapolis, before induction into the U.S. Army in 1942. He completed basic training in Abiene, Texas, and attended officers candidate school at Fort Sam, Houston. He was assigned to the 225th Station Hospital as hospital administrator and served in the North Africa and Italy campaigns attaining the rank of major. His unit was en route to the Pacific when the war ended. After completing his college degrees in math and science, he was appointed assistant manager for the Veterans Administration in Indianapolis and later worked for General Electric, Indianapolis, Syracuse, N.Y., and Louisville. He was a member of Louisville’s Springdale Presbyterian Church since 1963.
Also surviving are a son, Mark (and spouse Margo); a daughter, Becky (and spouse Tom) Sayer; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Prior arrangements were made with the bequeathal program at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. A memorial service will be at a later date.
