Now that Memorial Day is past, once more my thoughts turn to what dead military people would say if they were able. I think the results would be quite the opposite of what most seem to think.
First they could look at revisionist history and see the basic motive for all wars is greed and profit. Famed Marine Corp. General Schmedly Butler wisely stated this in his book "War is a Racket."
The politicians will give young people dozens of reasons why they should donate their lives to the cause, but most are false or misleading.
If the dead could speak they would look around and say, "I died for this?" No sooner than graves registration leaves the field of battle do the transnational corporations start making nice with the enemy.
U.S. corporations export the jobs that dead soldiers should have gotten if they had lived right here in the USA. In ancient history the soldiers were at least allowed to share in the plunder and booty. Today U.S. soldiers win battles but lose the "Republic."
Not to drag this on, but I would bet most of the dead military on any side would say at the time of death, "I wasn't fighting for anything but to stay alive."
"I say if you don't listen, you will have to feel."
