SYRACUSE - Michael L. Liberti, 61, formerly of Syracuse, left this earth to be with the Lord Feb. 25, 2011, in University Park Nursing Center, Fort Wayne. He fought bravely against cancer, which was diagnosed in November 2010.
He was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Richmond, to Henry and Sarah Liberti, who preceded him in death. He was the third eldest in a family of six children.
He spent most of his life in Syracuse, enjoying the lakes and the people of this tight-knit community. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1972-75. He worked for Ford Motor Co. and was a master shoe cobbler, owning his own show repair business in Syracuse. He will be deeply missed and always loved.
Surviving are four children: Tina, Pierceton; Andy (and spouse Yolanda), Clemmons, N.C.; Sarah, Middlebury; and Beth, Indianapolis; nine grandchildren: Alex, Mia, Joshua, Jacob, Katie, Ryan, Jenna, Krissy and Emily, who he was extremely proud of; and his former wife, Pat Haynes-Madden (and spouse Jim), Indianapolis.
A memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse.
