SYRACUSE - Mary Lou Smith, 79, of Syracuse, died at 3:25 p.m. Oct. 13, 2007, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Nov. 12, 1927, in New Paris, to Irvin and Ina O'Neal Stiver. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Forest "Bud" Smith, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, she worked in the Syracuse clerk-treasurer's office for 10 years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Syracuse, and was a New Paris High School graduate.
Also surviving are a son, Michael Smith, Millersburg; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald Stiver, New Paris, and Robert Stiver, Goshen. She was preceded in death by two sons and a brother.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
