COLUMBIA CITY - Marian V. Gasaway, 91, formerly of Columbia City, died at 5:59 p.m. Sept. 14, 2007, in Mason Health and Rehab, Warsaw.
She was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Rockford, Ill., to Thomas Howard and Amanda Bruhn DeHart. On Sept. 10, 1946, she married W.R. "Ray" Gasaway, who died Jan. 8, 1998.
She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, and received an associate's degree from Sanders Business College. She worked at the State of Indiana Parole Dept. for seven years and the U.S. Federal Prisons medical department for a year. She attended First Presbyterian Church and was a 50-year member of Columbia City Order of the Eastern Star and the Oriental Shrine, Indianapolis. She moved to Columbia City from Indianapolis in 1952.
Surviving are a son, G. Douglas Gasaway, Columbia City; two granddaughters; and a sister, Geraldine M. "Jerry" John, Arizona.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with Dr. C. James Cress officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a twilight service at 8 p.m. by members of Order of the Eastern Star, Columbia City, chapter.
