NORTH MANCHESTER – Major H. Nitzschke, 92, of North Manchester, died at 7:50 p.m. Aug. 15, 2012, in Brookside Haven Healthcare, Muncie.
He was born June 29, 1920, in Pulaski County, to Clyde and Jane Stitz Nitzschke. On Sept. 27, 1942, he married Mary C. Hurley, who died July 1, 1980. On April 15, 1983, he married Barbara J. Day, who died Aug. 23, 2002.
He retired from Manchester Foundry in 1983. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 286, Wabash, and a life member of American Legion Post 286, North Manchester.
Surviving are two stepsons, Rick Day, Mexico, Ind., and Rodney Day, North Manchester. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating.
No calling is planned.
