NORTH MANCHESTER - Louis L. "Gene" Thomas, 67, of North Manchester, died at 9 p.m. March 21, 2010, in his residence.

He was born July 6, 1942, in Peru, to William R. and Georgianna I. Smith Thomas.

He retired in 2006 from Invensys Co., North Manchester, after 44 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1518, Eagles Lodge and Sons of the American Legion Post 286, all in North Manchester. He served as a member of the North Manchester Police Dept. Reserves and as a volunteer and assistant chief with the North Manchester Fire Dept.

Surviving are his companion, Debbie Giddens, Liberty Mills; a daughter, Lisa (and spouse Steve) Turley, North Manchester; three brothers, Lamoine (and spouse Pat) Thomas and Dewayne (and spouse Brenda) Thomas, all of North Manchester, and Floyd Thomas, Lafontaine; a sister, Loretta (and spouse Terry) Cox, North Manchester; a half sister, Kathy Leis, Knox; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating.

No calling is planned.
