ALEXANDRIA – Kenneth R. “Kenny” Chesney, 92, of Warsaw, died Nov. 2, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, of an extended illness.

He was born March 1, 1919, in Perkinsville, to William and Helen Goldman Chesney. On April 23, 1938, he married Iona Foreman, who survives.

A former Alexandria resident, he lived in the Warsaw area since 2000. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of two bronze stars. He retired from Fisher-Body, Marion, in 1982 after 30 years of employment. He was a member of Alexandria First Christian Church, Alexandria Masonic Lodge 235 and Alexandria American Legion. He enjoyed golf, fishing, camping and traveling.

Also surviving are a son, Laymon (and spouse Renita) Chesney, Warsaw; a daughter, Karon Silvey, Nashville, Tenn.; five grandsons: Scott (and spouse Jan) Chesney, Fishers; Andy (and spouse Ann) Silvey, Mooresville; Jeff Silvey, Nashville; J.B. (and spouse Mindy) Silvey, Clarkston, Mich.; and Jason (and spouse Heather) Silvey, Greenfield; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Greg Chesney; a great-grandson, Bo Chesney; a son-in-law, Tom Silvey; a daughter-in-law, Connie Chesney; and two brothers, Clifton and Harold Chesney.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria, with military honors by the Elwood Veterans of Foreign Wars 5782 and the Indiana National Guard.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a memorial service at 7 p.m. by members of Alexandria Masonic Lodge.
