GOSHEN – Joyce Alene Spangler, 74, died early morning, March 3, 2014, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born Sept. 7 1939, in Edinburgh. She was married to Russell R. Spangler, who preceded her in death.
She moved to Goshen seven years ago from Madison. She graduated from DeSoto High School in 1958 and worked as a receptionist for The Care Group LLC, Indianapolis, and as office manager for Dr. Larry G. Cole, Yorktown, before retiring in 1992. She received the Nana of the Year award for 30 years, from 1985 to 2014.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurel Anne Isle and Marta Bardonner, both of Winona Lake; two grandchildren, Matthew Scott (and spouse Lindsey) Henry, Noblesville, and Brianna Nichole Bardonner, Richmond, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Holland, Noblesville; a brother, Everett R. Burton, Yorktown, Va.; and her ex-husband, James G. Bergdoll, Richmond. She was also preceded in death by her foster parents, Gail Meranda and Hestella F. Ullom Meranda Taylor.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Maxville.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
