GOSHEN - John L. McMeekin, 92, of 7784 E. CR 150N, Pierceton, died at 5:40 a.m. Sept. 13, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Pierceton, to Charles L. McMeekin. On May 27, 1939, in Bippus, he married Audra I. Bechtold, who died April 15, 1990. On June 23, 1991, he married Lucille, who survives.
He owned the drug store in New Paris, and worked in drug stores in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Pierceton High School in 1934, and was a member of the Elkhart County Dahlia Society. He was a Mason for more than 50 years. He attended Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris, and Pierceton United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are a son, John "Jack" McMeekin, New Orleans, La.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, with the Rev. Rob Nelson officiating. Burial will be in New Paris Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
