AKRON - John F. Nicodemus, 79, of 401 N. Virgil St., Akron, died at 10:20 p.m. Aug. 17, 2009, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born July 14, 1930, in Fulton County, to Max and Nellie Myrtle McCain Nicodemus.
He was a farm laborer throughout his life and was a Korean War veteran, serving from 1950-52.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl, Florida; two stepsons, Andrew Woods, Minnesota, and Michael Woods, Texas; two sisters, Mary (and spouse William) Day, Roann, and Marjorie Sutton, Akron; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Robert Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery with military graveside honors by members of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, both in Rochester.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
