ROCHESTER - Joel Aaron Brugh, 31, of 3118 N. CR 600W, Rochester, died at 7:30 p.m. July 28, 2009, in Dailey Lake, Emigrant, Mont.
He was born Sept. 6, 1977, in Rochester, to James A. and Ronda Hood Brugh, who survive in Rochester.
He was a boat captain for Charter Fishing and a university student. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rochester. He was a 1996 graduate of Culver Military Academy, where he played soccer. He was appointed captain of the team his senior year. Following graduation, he attended Ancilla College for a few semesters, then engaged in specialized training to become a boat captain, studying in California. He ascended through the ranks for the past eight years and served in the past three years as captain and charter fishing guide on a 40-foot fishing boat. In summer 2009, he enrolled in distance learning at University of Phoenix. He was taking classes in marine biology. Nearly halfway through he was planning to enroll in the fall at Humboldt College, California, in pursuit of his bachelor's degree.
Also surviving are three brothers: Joshua (and spouse Mandie) Brugh, South Bend; Jason (and spouse Teena) Brugh, Livingston, Mont.; and Jim Brugh, Mishawaka; a sister, Audra Brugh, San Diego, Calif.; and grandparents, Doris Hood and Joseph and Mildred Brugh, all of Rochester.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with Father Burt Woolson officiating.
