NORTH MANCHESTER – James L. Stewart, 83, North Manchester, died at 7:25 a.m. Dec. 15, 2014, in Peabody Healthcare. He was born in Laketon to Russell Stewart and Lucille Hill. On May 3, 1958, in North Manchester, he married Barbara J. Coldren, who survives. He graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952, serving until 1956. He was stationed in Korea, Japan and Okinawa during his tours of duty, where he proudly served his country. He was a member of the American Legion Post #286; a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1518, North Manchester; a lifetime member of the VFW, Post # 286, Wabash. He was employed with Warner Corporation, where he retired in 1991 as general manager. He was then employed for two years with Montel Livestock Equipment, retiring in 1993. Also surviving are a son, Stephen J. (and spouse Nancy) Stewart, Marco Island, Fla.; a brother, Robert D. Stewart, North Manchester; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Louis Stewart, Chicago. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Richard Tracy and Pastors Ron Burns and J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial is in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
