I Remember

Posted

Editor, Times-Union:
I remember when we used to teach that every life is sacred, even at conception - a new person with new DNA. I remember when everyone knew we were created in the image of God, both male and female, and God said it was very good! Forgive me, Lord, if I ever voted for a candidate that believed human life is disposable.
I remember when we used to teach that there are only two genders: male and female, XY or XX chromosomes in every cell of the human body, and people cannot change that with castration, hormones, or surgery. Forgive me, Lord, if I ever voted for a candidate who would perpetrate this lie on children.
I remember learning that God is the creator of marriage between one man and one woman. Forgive me, Lord, if I ever voted for candidates who had the prideful audacity to change what God ordained.
I remember when they passed Title IX laws to protect women from having to compete against men, and instead could have their own women’s sports teams. Forgive me, Lord, if I ever voted that it was okay for men to compete on women’s teams, and to invade the privacy and safety of the women’s locker rooms and restrooms.
I remember when there wasn’t so much hatred in our media and politics, that it was reprehensible and verboten to advocate for killing your opponent or celebrating their death (e.g. Charlie Kirk, President Trump). Forgive me, Lord, if I ever advocate or celebrate the death of my adversary.
I remember when we affirmed everyone’s God-given biological gender and never promoted gender confusion, drag shows or grooming children into harmful LGBTQ choices that destroy health and well-being. Forgive me, Lord, if I ever voted for gender confusion.
I remember learning you never get intelligence from non-intelligence, you never get life from non-life, and evolution violates the Law of Entropy - which is inviolate (even in millions or billions of years)! Forgive me, Lord, if I ever forgot that only You are the Creator.
I remember that “God‘s thoughts are higher than man’s thoughts, and God’s ways are higher than man’s ways.” (Isaiah 55:6-11.)
I remember that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach (a disgrace) to any people” and “blessed is the nation, whose God is the Lord.” (Proverbs 14:34; Psalm 33:12.) And our money says: “In God We Trust.”
Forgive me, Lord if I ever thought I knew better than You.
I remember: Deu 1:13 “Choose for yourselves wise, understanding, and respected men …” And Exo 18:21 & Acts 6:3 “Furthermore, select capable men from among the people …”
Forgive me, Lord, if I ever fail to vote and choose the most righteous and godly men and women that You want to lead this country into the blessing of peace and security. May your Kingdom come, and your will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven. Lord, heal our land! Amen.
