SYRACUSE - Florence E. Shenefield, 96, of 9382 Ind. 13N, Syracuse, died at 5:50 p.m. March 9, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Pierceton, to Elson and Alta Tatman Bowman. On Aug. 5, 1931, she married Lyndon Shenefield, who died in 1972.
A lifetime area resident, she was a 1931 Pierceton High School graduate. She worked at Alfran Nursing Home, Warsaw, for many years; was a cook at the school in Pierceton; and formerly worked at Baker's Market, Syracuse. She formerly attended the Presbyterian Church, Pierceton; and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of Eel River Church; and recently attended New Salem Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are a daughter, Rachael (and spouse Richard) Aaron, Mountain View, Ark.; a son, Lewis (and spouse Yevonne) Shenefield, Syracuse; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a half brother.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, with the Rev. Robert Rice officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
