NORTH WEBSTER – Evelyn Marie Bennett, 86, Pierceton, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Dec. 23, 2013, at her home.
She was born May 26, 1927, in Bowling Green, Ky., to James H. and Mammie E. Young Miller. On Sept. 5, 1948, in Indianapolis, she married the Rev. James V. “Jim” Bennett, who preceded her in death Sept. 5, 2007.
She grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Washington High School. She had previously worked for Eli Lily in the quality department as a secretary for several United Methodist Churches and was an Avon sales lady. She moved to the Kuhn Lake area in 1986 from Dayton and had previously lived in Acton, Goodland, Gary, Rensselaer, Churubusco and Winamac where her husband was minister of local churches. She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church and the Women’s Mission Fellowship.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen (and spouse Jay) Harris, Pierceton, and Marilyn (and spouse Doug) Akers, Lebanon; two sons, Mark (and spouse Susan) Bennett, Richmond, Va., and Tim (and spouse Colleen) Bennett, Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Earlene Bonesteel, Indianapolis; a sister-in-law, Alice Bennett; and brothers-in-law, Michael and Bernard Bennett. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Phyllis Smith; and three brothers, Kenneth, J.R. and Carl Miller.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Road, with Pastor David Smitley of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster.
