Eugene W. Cauffman, 92, Claypool, passed away at 3:35 p.m. March 3, 2014, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. He was born April 20, 1921, in Claypool, to Raymond C. and Audrey D. Decker Cauffman. On Oct. 4, 1941, in Kosciusko County, he married Marjorie E. Weaver, who preceded him in death Dec. 15, 2012. A lifetime resident of Claypool, he graduated from Claypool High School. He was a farmer and also worked as a patent inventor for farm equipment and Pulley-Kellan Co., Huntington. In 1984 he received a patent for an outdoor wood furnace. He also was a foster parent for 10 years and was a lifetime member of Claypool United Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters: Joyce (and spouse Robert) Whittlesey, Guthrie, Ky.; Sharon Engelschjon, Warsaw; and Peggy (and spouse John) Shively, Claypool; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Claypool United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Settles officiating. Burial is in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
