AKRON – Earl E. Hoffman, 91, of 208 S. West St., Akron, died at 2:42 p.m. July 1, 2012, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

He was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Wabash, to Foster and Eathel Drudge Hoffman. On July 3, 1938, in Akron, he was married by The Rev. Daniel Slaybaugh, to Genelle Taylor, who survives.

He owned and operated Hoffman Body Shop, Akron,  since the early 1950s. He sold the shop and retired in 1982. He graduated from Akron High School in 1938. He was a member of Akron United Methodist Church, where he was on the official board of the church as well as sung in the choir. He was a former member of Akron Lions Club, Akron Chamber of Commerce, Rochester Elks and  Plymouth Moose. He served on the Akron Cemetery Board for many years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed music, golfing, dancing and fishing.

Also surviving are two daughters, Karna (and spouse  Frank) Earl, Warsaw, and Jacqueline Hoffman, Carmel; two sons, Larry Hoffman, Akron, and Ronald Hoffman, Sebring, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Todd (and spouse  Shelly) Hoffman, Corey (and spouse Mickey) Hoffman,  Leneé (and spouse Dan) Coleman, Dustin (and spouse Tonya) DuBois and Lori, April and Mark Hoffman; 11 great-grandchildren; five step-granddaughters; a sister, Emogene Daine, Akron; and a brother, Edward (and spouse Martha) Hoffman, Claypool. He was preceded in death by two brothers, E. Wayne and Elvin Hoffman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. Mimi Ault officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.

Memorial calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
