Dortha Mae Dowdy, 97, died July 22, 2009, in Springfield (Mo.) Rehab and Health Center.
She was born Jan. 27, 1912, in Wayne County, Ohio, to Elmer O. and Sylvia Showalter Frank. On June 3, 1934, in Ashland, Ohio, she married the Rev. J. Paul Dowdy, who died Dec. 23, 1992.
She was a homemaker and worked with her husband at Grace Foreign Mission on the mission field. She was a member of Warsaw Community Grace Brethren Church.
Surviving are three sons: James Paul (and spouse Liz) Dowdy Jr., Sarasota, Fla.; Dr. David "Roger" (and spouse Jacquie) Dowdy, Springfield; and Robert Lewis (and spouse Pam) Dowdy, Char, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Forest L. Frank.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with the Rev. Jonathan Dowdy, her grandson, officiating.
