Doris “Jean” Shanbeck, 94, passed away at 6:57 a.m. Dec. 29, 2015, in her home at Miller's Merry Manor Assisted Living, Warsaw. She was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Warsaw, to John Alva and Anna M. Beatty Bowser. On Oct. 16, 1939, in Fort Wayne, she married Dale Richard Shanbeck, who preceded her in death Jan. 4, 2002. She lived most of her life in Warsaw and attended Warsaw High School. She was a homemaker. She was an active member of North Winona Church of The Brethren for 75 years, loved to make baby quilts and play cards and she also loved her dog, “Maizy.” Surviving are a daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Shanbeck, Huntertown; a sister, Joan King, Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by three brothers: James Bowser, who died Sept. 21, 2015; John Bowser and infant Donald Bowser; and three sisters, Catherine Miller, Evelyn Kinsey and Francis Prescott. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
