SPENCERVILLE, Ohio – Donald L. “Don” Method, 82, of rural New Knoxville, Ohio, died at 11:29 p.m. April 18, 2014, in the E.R. Department of Joint Twp. District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, Ohio, following a sudden illness with his daughter by his side. He was born May 23, 1931, in Warsaw to Burdette Hartman and Helen Louise Crowl Method. In 1949, he married Norma J. Slater, and in 1955, he married Patricia A. Jay, both who preceded him in death. On Oct. 3, 1966, he married Letha A. Hager Hennon, who survives. He retired in 1976 with 21 years of service as a Sgt. First Class in the U.S. Army from Fort Knox. He had served in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Germany and several bases in the U.S. He had worked at Warsaw Plating Works prior to the service. After the military, he worked as service manager at Parker Motor Sales and later Fowler’s T.V. and Entertainment Center, both in St.. Marys. He was a life member of VFW Post 6772 in Spencerville, and a member of the American Legion Post in New Knoxville. He loved his family and his home and good coffee. He said that’s all he needed. Also surviving are four children: Laura L. (and spouse Walter) Saladana, and James M. Method, all of Warsaw; Kathryn E. (and spouse Ray) Saladana, Winchester; Sandra L. (and spouse Dennis) McLaughlin, Beaver, Pa.; three stepchildren: Jean Ann (and spouse Steve) Turner, Waynesfield, Ohio; Richard B. Hennon, Lima, Ohio; William “Bill” (and spouse Diane) Method, Wapakoneta; stepdaughter-in-law, Lorie Hennon, Botkins, Ohio; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Kelly B. Hennon; and two brothers, Norman L. and Larry D. Method. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, with the Rev. David W. Howell officiating. Burial is in Kossuth Cemetery with military rites by the VFW and legion members.
