NAPPANEE - Dale Ressler Sr., 89, of 24721 CR 52, Nappanee, died at 11:50 a.m. Jan. 31, 2011, in his residence. He was ill for a year.

He was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Nappanee, to Levi and Grace Berkey Ressler. On Jan. 14, 1950, in New Paris, he married Bonnie Brumbaugh, who survives.

Living at this address for 60 years, he was a lifelong farmer and formerly worked at Liberty Coach, Syracuse. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II in Belgium, France and Omaha Beach. He was a member of Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Ressler, Goshen, and Dale (and spouse Roberta) Ressler Jr., Westfield; six daughters: Judy (and spouse Russell) Steele and Joyce (and spouse Gary) Kiefer, all of Bremen; Irene Ressler, Elkhart; Doris (and spouse Rick) Mealor, Mansfield, Texas; Christine Breisch, Edwardsburg, Mich.; and Dawn (and spouse Bryan) Sheets, Nappanee; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Delbert Ressler, Arcade, N.Y.; Olin Ressler, Queens Creek, Ariz.; and Loyal (and spouse Norma) Ressler, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Roger Eberly officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 8 pm. Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
